Has she been sent to save the realm or destroy it?

As Spymaster to the Queen, Aya’s blood oath ensures she protects those she fights alongside – including Will, the Queen’s Enforcer and Aya’s bitter rival.

When rumors of dark magic rise in a nearby kingdom, both are sent to investigate.

But when Aya’s power acts beyond her gods-given affinity, she risks being turned into a weapon in a war she doesn’t know how to win.

And when her relationship with Will unexpectedly shifts, neither knows the danger that will follow . . .

Has she been sent to save the realm or destroy it?

With that tagline I knew I was going to eat this story up, and it delivered!

A romantic and adventurous read, filled with stakes and rich world building, I really enjoyed this tale of political intrigue and power.

As the first book in a trilogy it provides glimpses of how the action is going to escalate in future books, but that didn’t leave The Curse of Saints without its own dose of intrigue. That said my favourite aspect was definitely the romance and the slow growth of it woven throughout the plot. Even though this is definitely your classic fantasy with the battle of good vs evil (although this line is a bit blurry … which I mean, even better) there is a beautiful emotional arc. I also couldn’t write this review without some appreciation for the dynamic and loveable group of main characters.

Kate Dramis has created a fun and intriguing start to what I am sure will be a captivating trilogy. A great debut and I can’t wait to see how Dramis continues on. In fact we we already have the name of the second instalment – The Curse of Sins coming June 2024!
